The Castle Hill Grange Hall Preservation Society held its monthly meeting Sept. 23. On Sept. 21, the organization held its first pie social. There were many different pies to choose from, and Wendell Hudson and friends provided the music to eat by. They would like to thank him and his friends for their generosity. There were door prizes and a 50/50 raffle, which was drawn by Castle Hill’s oldest citizen, Robert McHatten. The first pie social was deemed a success by all. Their next meeting will be Oct. 28 with the annual board of director’s meeting starting at 6:30 p.m.
The Castle Hill Grange Hall Preservation Society is looking for volunteers to please give them an hour of your time once a month to help keep the building operating. The fund-raisers they have are just paying their expenses and leave them with little else to do their projects. If you have enjoyed voting, going to town meetings, their suppers, having a reasonable hall to rent right in your own town, and other events, please consider helping to keep their organization going for future years. Their meetings are the fourth Tuesday of the month from February through November.
They are requesting that anyone who has knowledge of a veteran who served in the military between 1903 to the present to write or call Natalie Maynard, 2877 State Road, Castle Hill, Maine 04757 or 764-4878. They need names, dates, and any information you can give them so they can place the names on a sign or in a book in the future. The person must have been a resident of Castle Hill at the time of service.
