Ashland Boy Scout Troop 179 enjoys 10-mile hike

Ashland Boy Scout Troop 179 went on a 10-mile hike around Deboullie and Pushineer lakes on Oct. 7. During their hike, the Scouts worked on identifying trees, recognizing animal signs and using a map and compass. At the top of Deboullie Mountain, the boys climbed the tower, ate lunch and enjoyed the fall foliage.

Pack 179 Tiger Cubs enjoy outing
On a beautiful Sunday afternoon in late September, the newest batch of Ashland Cub Scouts went on a “Go See It” to M&M Graham Farms. The boys, along with their parents and den leaders, got to see the potato harvesters, wind-rowers and trucks at work. The boys each picked 10 pounds of potatoes to take home and got to use a special bag-tying tool to close their bags. “Go See Its” are part of the requirement for Cub Scouts to do in order to achieve badges. The seven, first-grade boys are currently working toward their Bobcat and Tiger Cub badges.
