The Caribou  Children’s Discovery Museum Capital Campaign Fund got a boost last week, when Pam Scheppelle, regional coordinator for the Aroostook Maine Community Foundation, presented CCDM director, Nancy Chandler with a $2,500 grant.     Chandler said the grant money would be directed toward allowing the CCDM to hire an individual to assist with grant writing and help in other areas needed to continue marketing the  estimated $2.9 million  project. (This amount includes the construction of the museum facility which is designed as an environmentally safe facility.)
A statewide organization the foundation has been partnering donors and nonprofits to strengthen Maine communities for 25 years. Aroostook County businesses and individuals established the Aroostook County Fund in 1986 to ensure the county would have local resources to meet community issues and challenges. The fund has grown to more than $500,000 and the Aroostook County Committee has awarded more than $274,000 in grants.
Maine Community Foundation grants cover the full range of nonprofit undertakings, with special focus in areas of education, the environment, arts and humanities and social and community services.
