Sponsored by the Aroostook Substance Abuse Prevention Collaborative
The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration recently awarded Aroostook Substance Abuse Prevention Coalition (ASAP) of Aroostook County, a grant in the amount of $50,000 per year for a period of four years.
This grant will begin on Sept. 30, 2008. The purpose of the grant is to fund underage drinking prevention in communities throughout Aroostook County. A portion of the monies will be given as mini-grants to County law enforcement agencies to increase underage drinking enforcement efforts.
Five $3,000 mini-grants will be available for county schools to evaluate and revise school substance abuse policies while additional monies will be used to fund social norms campaigns that educate youth and communities about the number of youth who do not participate in underage drinking.
