The Caribou High Drama Club will present the musical, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, based on the famous Charles M. Schultz comic strip “Peanuts”, in the Caribou Performing Arts Center, opening Friday, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. Featuring most of Schultz’s notable characters, including Charlie Brown, Lucy, Sally, Peppermint Patty, Marcie, Pigpen, Schroeder, Linus and of course, Snoopy, “You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” promises to be a treat for the whole family.
“We are really interested in reviving the musical tradition at CHS,” said newly appointed CPAC Director Joe Zubrick. “The Drama Club was all for the idea and given the amount of musical talent here, it was a natural.”
Zubrick, who directed “Godspell” at CHS several years ago, is directing and designing the production.
Cast members include Kevin Turcotte as Charlie Brown; Danielle Lane as Lucy; Erin Buck as Sally; Christine Savage as Snoopy. Christine Kashian as Linus, Taylor Arey and Allison Michaud as good friends, “Patty and Marcie, “Robbie Kiehn as “Schroeder”; Natasha Bishop as “the little red-headed girl” and Kellene O’Hara as Pigpen.
“We’re trying to make this a student produced play to the greatest possible extent,” explained Zubrick. “We have a wonderful student accompanist, Kellie Moody, Emily Anderson who will be in the pit band and Meagan Engstron, Rachel Silford and Miranda Williamson who will be in the pit band. Meagan Engstron, Rachel Silford and Miranda Williamson will be assisting with direction, stage management and lighting control. It will be a total Drama Club team project.”
“And, not satisfied with a major musical effort, the CHS Drama Club will move right into production with its entry in the Maine Drama Council’s Northern Regional Festival, slated for March 6 and 7. “We’ll be very busy this term,” said Zubrick, “and, hopefully, we’ll get some feedback from our audiences on the kind of shows they’d like to see next year.”
“You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown,” opens on Friday night, Feb. 6 at 7 p.m. at the Caribou Performing Arts Center and continues with a 2 p.m. matinee and a 7 p.m. evening performance on Saturday, Feb. 7. A closing matinee will take place on Sunday, Feb. 8 at 2 p.m.
