    The Aroostook County grand jury handed up 51 indictments against 50 persons following its one-day session in Caribou, March 5, 2009.
    According to District Attorney Neale Adams, this session of the grand jury is sadly notable for its consideration of two drug-caused deaths.    On Jan, 13, 2009, Clayton Codrey, 26, died, in Houlton, as a result of the ingestion of a combination of methadone, xanax, alcohol and other drugs. The grand jury handed up indictments against two persons, Brandy Hartt, 21, of Benedicta, and David Goodall, 25, of Cary, for aggravated trafficking in schedule W drugs, a Class A offense, with a minimum mandatory sentence of four years and a maximum of 30 years. They are charged with selling methadone to Codrey, and that drug caused his death.
    On Feb. 10, 2009, Tena McGraw, 29, died in Caribou, as a result of the ingestion of fentanyl and other drugs. Charged in her death, with aggravated furnishing schedule W drugs, Class B, is Ashley Martin, 24, of Caribou and with aggravated trafficking in scheduled W drugs, Class A, is Steven Doughty, 47, of Caribou. He was also indicted on charges of unlawful trafficking in scheduled drugs and criminal forfeiture.
    “These cases highlight, yet again, the pervasive criminal activity linked to drug abuse in the County. More important, it emphasizes the serious consequences of such activity. Aroostook is no island isolated from heavy crime areas when it comes to drug abuse and its fallout,” Adams said.

    Anthony M. Vangel, 18, Blaine: burglary of motor vehicle, theft (two counts) and forgery.
    Kevin Thibodeau, 26, Presque Isle: burglary and theft.
    John K. Deveau Jr., 27, Easton: attempted burglary (two counts) and criminal mischief (two counts).
    John P. Langille Sr., 50, Presque Isle: unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
    Jean Louis Michaud, 30, Presque Isle: burglary (two counts), theft (two counts) and criminal mischief.
    Ryan C. Young, 28, Presque Isle: burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
    Justice A. Spell, 22, Presque Isle: theft by deception.
    Quinn Harvey, 27, Presque Isle: aggravated criminal trespassing, aggravated assault, assault, criminal mischief and violating condition of release.
    Jessey M. Kennedy, 19, Fort Fairfield: burglary, theft and criminal mischief.
    Scott N. McBreairty, 39, Caribou: unlawful possession of scheduled drugs and operating after revocation.
    Joseph M. Neece, 42, Caribou: possession of firearm by prohibited person, hunting without a valid license, fraud and fraudulently obtaining a license.
    Aaron A. McBreairty, 31, Fort Kent: criminal operating under the influence and operating after revocation.
    Ryan Lemire, 24, Fort Kent: aggravated trafficking in scheduled drugs and operating after suspension.
    Bobby L. Begin, 24, Limestone: theft, violating condition of release and obstructing criminal prosecution.
    Bryan M. Saucier, 21, Caribou: unlawful possession of scheduled drugs.
    Patrick White, 32, Perham: criminal OUI and aggravated operating after revocation.
    Ryan C. Young, 28, Caribou: burglary and criminal mischief.
    Ralph F. Nichols, 46, Caribou: unlawful sexual contact (four counts) and gross sexual assault (two counts).
