PRESQUE ISLE — Girl Scouts of Maine will be hosting a Get Moving with Girl Scouts event on Wednesday, Sept. 23, from 5:30 – 7:30 p.m., at Gentile Hall, University of Maine at Presque Isle.     Girls attending the event will have the opportunity to swim, use the climbing wall, jog around the track, shoot hoops or play volleyball. Get Moving with Girl Scouts participants are asked to bring an unused pair of socks to the event which will be donated to those in need.
“This event not only gives girls the chance to have some energizing fun, it also provides them and their parents or guardians with the opportunity to find out about the many different ways they can participate in Girl Scouting,” said Samantha Lott Hale, director of Program for Girl Scouts of Maine. “Girls may register as Girl Scouts, or re-register for the year, during the event, and financial aid is available for the $12 membership fee.”
Get Moving with Girl Scouts is open to Girl Scouts and non-Girl Scouts alike and anyone wishing to attend must pre-register by calling Sandy at 888-922-4763. There is a $4 charge per girl.
Girl Scouts is for all girls between the ages of 5 and 17 and is the place where they develop the leadership skills they can use today and throughout their lives. For information on Girl Scouts or to volunteer, visit www.girlscoutsofmaine.org.
