LIMESTONE — “Never hesitate to call the fire department for any type of emergency,” Captain John Poitras of the Limestone Fire Department (LFD) said. “We are here to assist anyone in need.”
Captain Jon Poitras
Poitras, 31, has been with LFD for 15 years. He knew that he wanted to become a firefighter at an early age.
“I grew up in a family of firefighters,” Poitras explained. “My grandfather and father are past chiefs of the department and since childhood, I’ve always wanted to carry on the tradition.”
A third generation firefighter, Poitras acknowledges that while firefighting can be very dangerous, it is also very rewarding.
Outside of the department, Poitras is a fleet mechanic at Maine Public Service Co. His wife’s name is Angela and they have two sons, Carsen, 5, and Kaleb, 2.
In his free time, Poitras like antique tractors, vintage snowmobiles, and ATVing.
His favorite food is steak and seafood, and he likes listening to classic rock and country music.
