• Dr. W.E. Sincock and wife have returned from New York where the doctor has been taking a post graduate course in medicine.
• Farewell to the merry widow and peach basket bonnets. Miss 1910 will trip lightly along in the Easter parade wearing the latest pattern of French headgear, the “biplane” hat. It was introduced at the Wearing Apparel Show at Madison Square Garden in N.Y. and is said to be as true an illustration of an air machine as would be a photograph of the actual biplane in motion.
• Charles F. Beck of Houlton and Miss Mabel Kilcollins of Caribou were united in marriage Feb. 27, at the home of the bride’s parents by Rev. T.J. Ramsdell, pastor of the United Baptist Church.
• Potatoes have dropped to 70 cents a barrel.
• Conceived and started with a considerable trepidation, Caribou carried through its first Winter Carnival with a measure of success that was scarcely whooped for by even the most optimistic.
• Much favored comment was heard on the attractive window display made from the carnival prizes including gifts for the carnival king and queen and prizes for the different out-of-door events. It was arranged by Alice Hackett.
• Maynard Lombard, who has been doing state forestry work in Sanford, has been transferred to Double Springs, Ala., where he is in the employ of the United States Forestry Service.
• Almond Edgecomb won second place for Limestone High School in the ski jumping contest at Caribou on Saturday and Colby Thompson won first place in the open class.
• The shooting gallery at the Hines and Smith Co., continues to draw a good patronage. The devotees of the sport are fortunate in having Fred Allen connected with the gallery, as Fred is not only an excellent shot himself but very helpful in teaching others how to make connections with the targets.
• Candidates running for a seat on the Caribou Town Council include Norris Cianchette, Herbert Aldrich, Carleton Denico and Philip Laffaty.
• Caribou Town Budget Committee has recommended appropriations of $1,089,503, a net increase of $107,538 under last year’s figure. The total budget is $1,464,330, plus county taxes of $25,806.
• The following Caribou High School students have been chosen to participate in Jr. Exhibition Mary May Deprey, Lynn Espling, Duska Hemingway, Bertil Johnson, Ruth Milton, Arthur Philbrick, Dorothy Sleeper, Janice Swiek, Gordon Thibodeau and Jerry White.
• A/3c Charles Gahagan has arrived home from Shepherd Air Force Base in Texas, for a 26-day leave with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Gahagan.
• Mr. and Mrs. Keith Nelson of New Sweden entertained at supper Miss Peggy Ann Holmquist and Robert Nelson.
