LIMESTONE — The Northstar Twirlers were a hit on June 5 when they presented their annual recital for family and friends.

During their dance homage to Michael Jackson, all the Show Stars showcased their ‘80s and ‘90s dancing skills. Dancers included, from left, Jessica Stackhouse, Freem Cyr, Mackenzie Beaulieu, Chelsea Labreck and Emily St. Pierre.

Organized by Karen and Jessica Stackhouse, the twirlers yet again showcased their diverse talents from competition baton moves to hip-hop dance steps.
Hip-hop, like dance and tap, were available to Northstar students for the first time this year.
Baton twirling and pom-pom routines remain strong throughout the group as many students received first-place standings in recent baton competitions; the Show Stars even won first place at the 2010 Festival of the Future in May.
While the recital did signal the end of twirling season, the Northstar Twirlers start up their season again in the fall.

Even though technical difficulties got things off to a rough start, Annabell Pelletier didn’t let music mishaps get in the way of showcasing her twirling talent through a self-choreographed routine.
