The MFX Novice team played Carleton #3 on Jan. 30, taking a 9-2 win. Heinz Schumacher faced 23 shots while Presque Isle took 48 shots.
For P.I., Thomas Patenaude had four goals, Jake Stevens and Devin Ireland had two and Bailey York put in one. On Feb. 2, the novice team took on Southern Victoria #1 and won 13-0.
Schumacher faced four shots compared to the 45 Presque Isle took on S.V. All the team needed was the lone goal from Kyra Schumacher, but Devin Ireland wanted to make sure this game would be in the win column with his hat trick.
Eric Benson and Patenaude contributed two, Stevens put in three and York and Torey Levesque both had one goal.
In their most recent game on Feb. 8, the MFX hockey team fell to Houlton 7-5.
Schumacher faced 33 shots in goal and P.I. took 37 shots on Houlton. Patenaude had three goals, with Benson and Stevens putting in one a piece.
Presque Isle showed strong offensive work and the defense helpled keep the game close. With Houlton getting five penalties, Amelia Theriault, York and Tyler Levesque had to turn it up offensively and did so with great attempts.
One of Houlton’s penalities created a opportunity for a penalty shot by Tyler Levesque. Luckily for Houlton, their goalie came up with a big stop. Defensively for Presque Isle, Kyra Schumacher, Devin Ireland and Torey Levesque all stepped in strongly when Presque Isle obtained two penalties before game’s end.
