Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met at the Aroostook Health Center on Tuesday, Feb. 25, at 6:30 a.m. Assistant District Governor Ralph McPherson updated the group on the PETS training taking place on April 25. He also spoke of the meetings that have taken place occasionally between local club presidents. He is also planning a meeting in March with all the incoming presidents.
Rotarian Ray Mersereau spoke to the group about what’s happening in town. The annual elections will be taking place on March 16. There are three individuals running for two Town Council seats: Diane Porter Libby, Calvin Miller and Nathan Gray.
One referendum will be on the local ballot: the purchase of a new fire truck to replace the 1978 pumper truck, which is not capable of pumping the necessary gallons per minute. The new truck will have a higher pumping capability as well as having foam capability.
