CARIBOU & PALM SPRINGS, CA – Glenwood W. Smith, 76, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, August 4, 2012, at a Palm Springs, CA healthcare facility. He was born September 13, 1935, in Caribou, the son of Walter and Hannah (Langley) Smith.
Glenwood attended Caribou schools and had been employed as a chef for several years.
Glenwood served in the United States Army from 1954 to 1956, stationed in Alaska, and was a member of the Veteran’s of Foreign Wars, Palm Springs, CA.
He was predeceased by his parents and is survived by one brother and sister-in-law, Carl and Shirley Smith of Fort Fairfield; two sisters and brother-in-law, Deleen and Lendall Johnson of Caribou, Sharon Brown of Eagle Lake; several nieces and nephews.
A graveside service will be conducted at Maine Veteran’s Memorial Cemetery, Caribou at a later date. In lieu of flowers, those who wish may contribute in memory of Mr. Smith to his family to be donated at their discretion, c/o Carl and Shirley Smith, 199 Sam Everett Rd., Fort Fairfield, 04742. Arrangements have been entrusted to the Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield.
