On Wednesday, Nov. 19 The Caribou Rotary Club conducted their “early bird” cash draw for $500 during their weekly meeting at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center.
“We are happy to announce the winner is Krissy Sprague,” said Cash Draw Chairperson Malissa Dubie. “We also wanted to thank everyone who purchased an eligible ticket for the early bird draw.”
Caribou Rotary Club President Mike Quinlan, explained that the Rotary has contributed to several projects with the funds raised from the drawing.
“We’ve worked in collaboration with Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library and the United Way of Aroostook, and the Caribou Rotary Club has contributed funds to help pay for books to all Caribou area children, which will be starting next year, and will be purchased for these children from birth to age five,” said Quinlan. “A new book will be mailed monthly to the registered children, and all children are encouraged to register.”
More information on this project can be found at www.unitedwayofaroostook.org.
“We have donated to a new project in Aroostook County called ‘Recreation with No Limits.’ This brand new entity lead by Dr. Jacqui Lowman and Bryan Thompson will bring outdoor recreation in Aroostook County to those with physical handicaps,” Quinlan added. “They will be receiving support from Maine Adaptive Sports and the Nordic Heritage Center.”
“Another organization we have contributed to in the recent past is the Athletic Booster’s Ski Building,” said Quinlan. “We’ve contributed funds to them on two separate occasions and we are excited to see their efforts come to fruition. The building is nearing completion and will serve as a wonderful center piece at the Caribou High School’s athletic events for many years to come.”
According to Dubie, eligible tickets needed to be sold on or before Nov. 15. Dubie added that as of that date, 528 tickets of 1,000 tickets had been sold. The successful ticket is still eligible for all 50 cash prizes at the live Cash Draw event on Saturday, Dec. 13. The live cash draw will also be held at the Caribou Inn and Convention Center. Hors d’oeuvres will be served at 6:30 p.m., and the draw will commence at 8 p.m. sharp, with dancing and music to follow.
Dubie added that there is still time to purchase a Rotary Cash Draw ticket for the Dec. 13 drawing by calling Quinlan at 492-1414. “The Caribou Rotary Club thanks you for your support,” said Dubie.
