Houlton International Food Festival triples funds raised

The July 6 festival, held at Houlton Middle High School, was packed with hundreds who traveled from as far away as Quebec City to sample the exotic foods made from ancient recipes and generational traditions by locals representing 21 different nations.

Houlton Agricultural Fair kicks off on Friday

Houlton’s first fair was in 1847 and it has continued in many different forms since then. In the mid-1800s the Maine Press Association invited state editors to the Houlton and Presque Isle fairs, increasing interest in the County.

It was a Midnight Madness of glitz, scents, food, music and neon-lighted bubble shooters as 7,000 people packed into several blocks on Houlton’s historic downtown square.
