Woodworking shop opens in former Agway building — The city has welcomed a new employer to town. Valley Woodworking of Van Buren has moved into the former Agway building on the Access Highway.
115 Years Ago – Oct. 29, 1908
Work has been completed — S. W. Brown has completely remodeled and renovated his building on Broadway, opposite the B. & A. station, and opened an up-to-date restaurant.
75 Years Ago – Oct. 21, 1948
Republican adds news coverage of Van Buren — Starting with this issue the Aroostook Republican will carry news off Van Buren under a section headed ‘St. John Valley News.’ Eventually, other towns in the valley will receive similar coverage. Mrs. Bernard E. Dionne is the Aroostook Republican’s correspondent for Van Buren.

To open a new baby shop — A new shop for Caribou, under the proprietorship of Mrs. Odiana Thibodeau and her daughter Miss Alyeene Thibodeau, will open the Kiddies Korner sometime next month in the location recently vacated by the Stop-In-Shop.

A new hall going up — It is understood that H. D. Collins is to begin at once the erection of a hall on his lot in the rear of A. V. Goud’s and A. A. Garden’s stores

A very modern residence built — C. C. McKay of Perham is building one of the most modern country residences to be found anywhere. The new building, which is two stories, will have hot and cold water, bathroom, sewer connections, etc., and everything is being done on the lines of an up-to-date building, the contractor being Geo. Snowman.

Retiring from the milk business — H. S. Hardison, who has conducted a milk route in Caribou for the past 21 years (the last year, however, the business having been carried on by his son, Clifford) has decided to retire and will discontinue serving customers on the first of the coming month
25 Years Ago – Sept. 23, 1998
ATX opens an office in the downtown area — Three miles of wire, numerous cubicles and a state-of-the-art computer system were installed in the former Brooks building to prepare for one of the city’s newest businesses. A crowd of more than 50 people showed up to celebrate the grand opening and dedication at the company’s new Sweden Street location.
100 Years Ago – Sept. 13, 1923
Directory being formed — A new pocket directory of the village of Caribou is being printed at this office. The work, which was compiled by W. B. Brown, contains the names of our citizens, together with their address, street and number; also other valuable information. When completed the book will, we predict, find a ready sale, and be of considerable value.

Retiring — It is understood that George Mooers of Ashland is selling out his electric plant and his home property.
