UMPI alumni increased giving — Thanks to a $5,000 gift from alumnus Robert Doughty of Iowa, the University of Maine at Presque Isle Annual Fund had exceeded the previous year’s drive by more than $4,000.

Over 1,000 Youngsters Expected To Attend Giant Christmas Party — Detailed plans for Houlton’s giant Christmas party to be held at the Houlton and Temple Theatres Friday, December 23rd, were announced today by Mrs. Donald McCluskey, chairman of the committee in charge of the event.
On Thursday, Dec. 19, Caribou and the Maine Department of Transportation will host a meeting at 6:30 p.m. at Caribou Wellness & Recreation Center, 55 Bennett Drive, as part of their recent Village Partnership Initiative.
For eight communities in the greater Caribou area, their rates for fire and EMS coverage or just EMS coverage will increase by 15 percent.
The program provides resources, guidance, and networking opportunities to help towns stay sustainable and grow.
The spectacle included floats with the traditional snowmen, reindeer, Santa Claus and other Christmas images but many took their creativity to the next level.
