Town lets couple live in Woodland church

After local residents complained that a couple was living in a church tax-free during Woodland’s Sept. 20 selectmen’s meeting, the board made a point to discuss the matter during last week’s session. Ultimately, they decided to allow them to stay, as they are using a portion of the building as a parsonage.

Daughters of Isabella

    The Daughters of Isabella Holy Rosary Circle 638 held three meetings in 2014, with the first being Jan. 6. The 50/50 raffle was won by Gail Hjort. Omerine Cyr received a small birthday gift and “Happy Birthday” was sung.

Reunion organizer Theresa Dube doesn’t know how many people will be attending the CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) Reunion for Holy Rosary Church this summer — but she does know that they sent out over 600 postcards reminding people to “save the date.”

Women’s retreat Saturday

A “Winter Uplift Retreat” is planned for Saturday, Feb. 22, by the United Methodist Women’s group. Ethel Brushett will lead the retreat on the topic of “Questions God Asks” from the book authored by Hunter Beckelhymer. Assisting Brushett is Liz Anderson, Linda Maraya Husted and Pastor Pat Goodwin.
