Spending the winter in South Carolina, as they usually do, Mainers John and Susan Phipps find themselves adrift in the uncertainty of a pandemic. They originally planned to drive the 1,200 miles from Myrtle Beach to their home in the tiny Aroostook County town of Dyer Brook in mid-April, but the international struggle to contain the coronavirus has them wondering.
