Caribou man sentenced for chase that led to state trooper’s leg amputation

A Caribou man has been sentenced after hitting a State trooper during a high speed chase, which resulted in the trooper needing his leg amputated.
Robert Belmain, 54, pleaded guilty on Tuesday to a count of aggravated assault, among other charges, the Kennebec Journal reported.
Belmain was arrested in 2020 after leading a police chase from Clinton to China on June 14.
