Presque Isle councilor hopes to establish ‘pool scholarship’ fund
At least one city councilor is looking to the new year and how it will affect those who used the indoor pool, following the decision in December to close the facility in February and team up with the University of Maine at Presque Isle to use the pool at Gentile Hall for municipal purposes.
UMPI receives top ranking from U.S. News and World Report
The University of Maine at Presque Isle has garnered a fourth top ranking from U.S. News and World Report as one of the Best Colleges for Veterans among Regional Colleges in the North.
UMPI’s Sonntag accepts top position at USC Sumter
University of Maine at Presque Isle officials announced Jan. 17 that Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs Michael Sonntag will step down at the end of January to accept the top position at the University of South Carolina Sumter. He has served as UMPI’s chief academic officer since 2007.
Colleges support second-year scholarships for AAI
The support of the county’s four colleges to an innovative and relatively new region-wide program will extend from one year to two the scholarship support granted to graduating seniors from each of northern Maine’s 16 high schools annually.
