Vera LaPorte

LaPorte, Vera N., 94, died February 3, 2007.         PRESQUE ISLE – Vera N. LaPorte, Presque Isle, Feb. 3, 2007. Born: Oct. 25, 1912, to Scott and Dora Colbert in Adelaide, PA.
    A quiet and gentle woman and a loving mother of Gloria Olore and husband Joseph of Presque Isle and a son, James and wife Vickie of Milwaukie, OR. She is survived by a sister Mildred Cooley of Ohio. She was a loving grandmother, great-grandmother, cousin, aunt and friend.
    Vera worked as a guardette for the B&O Railroad in Baltimore, MD patrolling the waterfront piers. She later worked at the Roma Cafe in Presque Isle. Vera will be missed by the many lives she touched, especially her caregivers at PINH.
    Memorial services will be held at a later date. Those who wish may donate in Vera’s memory to the P.I. Animal Shelter and Sister Mary O’Donnell Shelter.
