Easton – Fern E. Ladner, 78, died March 2, 2007 at a Presque Isle hospital. She was born April 26, 1928 in Limestone Siding, New Brunswick, Canada, the daughter of Thomas and Melba (Dixon) O’Neal.
She was a dedicated mother, who lived for her children. Fern was well known for her cake decorating ability. She was a gifted cook who would make homemade donuts and bread for her family. Never a complainer, you would never know she felt bad.
She suffered the loss of her loving husband, Earl Ladner Sr. in 1985 and her eldest son Earl “Sonny” Ladner Jr. in 1979, yet she always stayed strong for her remaining children. Although we have lost the matriarch of our family, she leaves a legacy of love to her children and we will greatly miss her.
Her sister Florence O’Neal also predeceased her. Surviving her are sons Arthur Ladner Sr. and his wife Candace of Presque Isle, Ernest Ladner and his wife Nina of Bowdoinham, Randy Ladner and his wife Allyn and Archie Ladner all of Easton; daughters Bonnie Sandoval and her husband Rudy of Pearland, TX and Linda Curtis and her husband Scott of Arundel; brothers Mark and Everett O’Neal both of Limestone Siding, N.B., Canada; 15 grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren; special friends Pauline Moran and Marjorie Corey and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were conducted 2:00 PM Tuesday at the Duncan-Graves Funeral Home, 30 Church St., Presque Isle with the Rev. Matthew Maxwell officiating. Relatives and friends called at the funeral home from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. A spring interment will be in the Estes Park Cemetery in Easton. In lieu of flowers the family has asked that gifts in her memory be made to the Steven Perry Scholarship Fund, % Easton High School, Easton, Me. 04740.
