SCARBOROUGH – Dana L. MacDonald, age 70, died on May 18, 2007, at Maine Medical Center in Portland.
He was born in Oxbow, Maine on March 13, 1937, a son of George and Isa (Anderson) MacDonald.
Through out his life, Mr. MacDonald worked as a construction surveyor and was employed for such companies as H.E. Sargent Inc. of Stillwater, Maine and Deluca and Hoffman Associates of South Portland after his retirement as a consultant.
He enjoyed woodworking, hunting, the outdoors, and had a special love of nature. He especially loved watching the birds that visited his backyard. He always looked forward to the spring because he loved to plant flowers.
Dana served as a trustee for the Town of Scarborough Sanitary District from 1975-1990. He received a plaque in recognition of his distinguished public service.
Mr. MacDonald was also a member of the Pioneer Lodge #72 AF & AM in Ashland, ME. He was also a member of Ducks Unlimited.
He is predeceased by sisters Ruth McKean and Alice Rafford.
He is survived by his loving wife- Carol (Berry) MacDonald; a son- Garth MacDonald and his wife Janice of Virginia Beach, VA; grandsons- Keith, Chad, and Dylan; a twin brother- Dean MacDonald; siblings- Chester MacDonald and his wife Clarice, James MacDonald and his wife Ida Mae, Albert MacDonald and his wife Janis, Ada Lovley and Ann Tripp and her husband- Sidney; several brothers-in-law including John McKean of NC; several nieces and nephews; and several grand nieces and nephews.
Visiting hours were Monday evening from 7-9 PM at the Dennett, Craig & Pate Funeral Home, Rts. 202 and 4A (13 Portland Road) in Buxton. A funeral service was held at the funeral home on Tuesday at 1 PM. Burial followed at Black Point Cemetery in Scarborough.
