MERSEREAU, Bertha M., 85, died May 15, 2007 at her home in Mars HIll. Arrangements are in the care of Duncan Funeral Home in Mars Hill.
Mars Hill- Bertha M. Mersereau 85, devoted mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and wife of 59 years, to the late LeRoy M. Mersereau, died May 15, 2007 at her home in Mars Hill. She was born June 22, 1921 in New Brunswick, Canada the daughter of Harvey and Amanda (Demerchant) Bell.
A faithful member of the Mars Hill United Methodist Church and a member of the United Methodist Women. Bertha for many years ran Roy’s Dairy Bar on Main St. in Mars Hill. Raising her family and being involved with their lives gave her great joy. She loved working in her garden and giving of herself in so many ways. Bertha especially enjoyed delivering Meals on Wheels.
She is survived by a son and his wife, Raymond W. and Judy A. Mersereau of Mars Hill; daughters Sharon M. Broad of Blaine and Anna M. Turner and her husband John of Houlton; grandchildren, Heidi Broad Smith, Holly Trafford, Marc Mersereau, Scott Turner and Andrea Turner; great-grandchildren, Stephen Smith, Amber Trafford, David Smith, Andrew Smith, Brandon Trafford, Nicholas and Samuel Mersereau, Ciaran Turner, and Jordan Mersereau; sisters, Clara Grant of Bangor, Hazel Rideout of Mars Hill and Joyce Clevette of Presque Isle and several nieces and nephews. Predeceasing her besides her husband was a grandson, Matthew Broad; brothers and sisters, John Bell, Marie Billings, Ransford Bell, Edna Cass, Ronald Bell, Malcolm Bell, Frank Bell.
At her request graveside services were conducted 1:00 PM Saturday at the Pierce Cemetery in Mars Hill with the Rev. Richard Bell officiating. Gifts in her memory in lieu of flowers may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, P.O. Box 426, Westbrook, Me. 04092 or to Meals on Wheels, 33 Davis Street, Presque Isle, Me. 04769.
