Presque Isle Summer Programs

Brochures for Presque Isle’s summer programs are now available at the recreation center. Registration begins May 23 for Presque Isle residents, and non-residents may register beginning May 29. Registration must be done in person; none will be accepted over the phone or via fax. Please contact the recreation office at 764-2545 with any questions.Adult Softball
Presque Isle Recreation & Parks is currently accepting teams for its coed and mens softball leagues. The team registration and deposits are due immediately. Teams interested or those with questions should stop by or contact the recreation office at 764-2545.
Mother-Son Dance pictures
The pictures from the Mother-Son Dance are now in. Photos can be picked up at the Recreation Center between 8 a.m.-5 p.m.Fort Fairfield
Summer recreational programs
Registration is required for all summer recreation activities and programs. Parents can register their children for programs at the Fort Fairfield Community Center on Monday, June 11 and Tuesday, June 12 between the hours of 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. (some programs begin earlier and require registration prior to June 11 and 12). All program fees are to be paid during the registration period. Those programs that require fees will indicate the fee in the program description. There are a limited number of openings with some programs so be sure to register early.

Minor league baseball
Minor League baseball is for boys and girls ages 8-9 as of May 1, 2007. This program will get under way with a practice on Wednesday, May 30 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the “Charlie Lockhart Field” located behind the high school. The Minor League program will begin playing games the week of June 26 and will end the season during the week of July 30. The Minor League teams will play a 10-game schedule with games being played on Tuesday and Thursday at 5:30 p.m. Games will be played against teams from Washburn, Easton, Mars Hill, Limestone, and other towns from Aroostook County. The Fort teams will travel to the other communities for games as well as host games here in Fort Fairfield. Register by calling the Community Center at 472-3882.
Youth All-Star baseball
Youth All-Star baseball is for boys and girls ages 11-12 as of May 1, 2007. Tryouts for this team will be held in early July. Major League coaches will inform players of exact days and times for tryouts as the program draws closer. The all-star team will play games against other teams from Aroostook County and will participate in the County Baseball Tournament to be held in Caribou the first week in August. The team will also participate in “Round Robin” tournaments held throughout the county this summer (TBA).
Pony league baseball
Pony League baseball is for boys ages 13-16 as of May 1, 2007. The Pony League team will play a 10-game schedule, while participating in the Aroostook County Pony League. Practices will begin Monday, June 11 from 4-5:30 p.m. at the FFHS Baseball Field. Games will begin the week of June 19 and will be played on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday. Game times on those days will usually be at 1:15 p.m. Interested players should contact Coach John Ala or the Community Center (ASAP) to register for Pony League Baseball.
Junior girls softball
Junior girls softball is for girls 8-12 years of age as of May 1, 2007. The program will begin on Thursday, May 31 with a practice from 2:45-4:15 p.m. on the middle school softball field. Practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 2:45-4:15 p.m. through June 14. Beginning the week of June 18, practices will be held on Monday and Wednesday mornings from 9:30-10:45 a.m. Games will also begin the week of June 18 and will be played mostly on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons at 1 p.m. Participants in this program will participate in the NMCRA league and play against teams from other communities in Aroostook County as well as participate in several “Round Robin” tournaments. The team will also play in the MPBF Tournament, the Ashland Invitational, and the County Tournament to be held in Presque Isle.
Hershey Track and Field
Hershey Track and Field is for boys and girls ages 9-14, age as of Dec. 31, 2007. Practices will begin on Wednesday, May 30 from 2:45-4 p.m. and will be held every Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2:45-4 p.m. at the Middle/High School track. Practices will be held up until the local meet which is scheduled for Wednesday, June 13 from 3-4:15 p.m. The top three qualifiers in each age group (per gender) at the local meet will advance to the Regional Meet to be held in Caribou on Saturday, June 23 at 10 a.m. The state meet is scheduled for Monday, July 2 in Brewer. All registration for this program must be done by Friday, June 8. Contact the Community Center for more information.
