To the editor:
Today we bid farewell to a man who was one of the greatest assets to Presque Isle. Peter G. McConnell passed away June 9, 2007. Peter was a dear and beloved friend, mentor, father and volunteer.
Peter gave freely of himself to his church community, to his friends, neighbors, to the city and his family. As we discuss preserving buildings, the building of parks, walkways, we should remember those who invested in our community. Over the years Peter has volunteered his time on several boards for the city. A consummate promoter of our community, Peter wanted to make this a better place for all of us.
A tribute to his unfailing efforts, his dedication to preserving and improving what makes Presque Isle a good place to live and work, should be considered. I, as many others, are hopeful that leaders past and present look at this good man’s efforts and remember him well.
You will be missed, my friend.
