Mr. Orpheus Allison, originally from Castle Hill, and Ms. Florence Gu, of Shanghai, China, are pleased to announce their engagement. Allison is a professor of English at Shanghai Normal University in Shanghai. Gu is a graduate of Shanghai International Studies University and works as an emigration counselor and licensed tour guide.
Allison is the son of V. Dana Allison and the late Dr. Horace R. Allison Jr. of Castle Hill. He is a graduate of Presque Isle High School and the University of Maine at Presque Isle. He earned a Master of Liberal Arts degree from the University of North Carolina, Asheville. Allison was a photographer for WAGM television and many other television stations before beginning his teaching career in China.
Gu is the daughter of Wang Aizhen and Gu Quing Hua of Shanghai.
Their Chinese wedding date is planned for Sept. 21 in Shanghai.
The couple will reside in Shanghai.
