NorSTATE FEDERAL Credit Union was recently presented the first-place award, for credit unions in its peer group, in the Dora Maxwell Social Responsibility Recognition competition during the Maine Credit Union League’s annual meeting on May 18 at the Augusta Civic Center. Multiple credit unions statewide competed for the award, which is presented annually to the credit union that best exemplifies efforts to promote social responsibility within the communities it serves.  The project presented by NorState was one in which it partnered with the St. John Valley Times as the major financial sponsor in promoting the St. John Valley Food Drive held during the month of November 2006. The annual food drive is a project started years ago by the St. John Valley Times as a means of supporting local food banks in the greater St. John Valley. The project will now be presented for competition on the national level. NorState Federal Credit Union has offices in Ashland, Van Buren, Eagle Lake, Fort Kent and Madawaska. Holding the award is NorState CEO David Rossignol.
