An 82-year-old Presque Isle man who was the subject of a Silver Alert has been found dead, according to law enforcement officials.
A Maine State Police dog found Lyman Botting’s body on his Houlton Road property Sunday afternoon, said Mark Latti, spokesperson for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
His death is not considered suspicious, Latti said.
Botting was last seen on Friday, Sept. 27, according to a Silver Alert issued by the Presque Isle Police Department on Sept. 28. Police described Botting as 5 feet 6 inches, weighing about 165 pounds, with brown hair and blue eyes. He was wearing black and gray checkered pajama bottoms and a blue T-shirt.
Botting suffered from cognitive issues and did not drive, Presque Isle police said in the alert, which was shared widely on social media. The family car was still at the residence.
Multiple agencies and a police dog searched the area, the department said in an undated social media update. A second update, also undated, said Botting had been found.
Officials are providing few details about Botting’s death.
“No further details will be released at this time to preserve the integrity of the investigation. We will release details when they become available,” Presque Isle police said on social media.
Maine Department of Public Safety spokesperson Shannon Moss issued a statement Sunday evening saying only that Botting had been located and the Silver Alert was canceled. She directed media to local police.
The investigation has been turned over to the Maine Warden Service, Presque Isle Police staff said Monday.
