Library news
The Walter T. A. Hansen Memorial Library is now opened and has resumed its normal hours. Following an extended illness, Tina will be back in the library as soon as she is able. The trustees have also hired a temporary substitute to assist Tina and to run the library if Tina is unable to be there for the entire day as she regains her strength.      The trustees would like to thank Presque Isle’s Turner Memorial Library for allowing the Mars Hill, Blaine and Bridgewater patrons to utilize their facility during the time their library had to be closed.
Please stop in to the library to welcome Tina back and to also welcome Rita Kingsbury on board. The library hours are: Monday, Tuesday and Thursday, 1:30-5:30 p.m.; Wednesday, 6:30-8:30 p.m.; Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m. to 12 noon. The phone number is 429-9625.
Please note that the library will be closed on Saturday, September 1 and Monday, September 3 due to Labor Day.
Class representatives needed
The CAHS Reunion Committee is looking for several class representatives. Reps are needed for the years 1985 and 2003. Reps would help with the organizing of their classmates’ information, keeping addresses updated and looking into a possible class get-together at some point during the reunion. The school will be open for such meetings. If you are willing to help with your class, please contact Connie Durost at 429-8193.
Rotary Club
The Mars Hill Rotary Club met on Tuesday morning at 6:30 a.m. at the Aroostook Health Center in Mars Hill. Members are asked to present a name for consideration as Person of the Year for our area. The person cannot be a Rotarian or their spouse.
The guest speaker was Bill Graves. Bill runs nine martial arts schools in the area – teaching every week and attending six tournaments each year. Bill also writes 10 – 12 sports articles each month for the Bangor Daily News, the Star-Herald as well as free-lance. He has been published in several magazines, such as Pheasants Forever, Maine Sportsman, and On The Water – The Angler’s Guide to New England.
Bill started going hunting with his father when he was small enough that he couldn’t even see over the dashboard of the truck! He declined to say just how many years that is.
He spoke about one of his hunting trips to Hawaii. He spent two days bird hunting and one day hunting big game.
