Family home gets much-needed addition

ASHLAND, Maine – Family and friends are working together to make life better for four children whose mother died as the result of an automobile accident July 26.     Julie Saucier, 35, the mother of four, was one of two individuals to die in a crash on Route 163. Following her death, the children moved into a trailer with their father, Billy Labbe, his girlfriend and her three children.
With only three bedrooms for nine people, the family soon discovered the home was a bit cramped for so many people. That’s when it was decided an addition was necessary to accommodate the expanded family.
Recently, friends and family gathered to begin framing an addition that will add several bedrooms to the home, as well as expand the living room.
Just under 1,000 square feet of space will be added to the structure, providing much-needed room for the combined family, including seven children up to the age of 16.
Materials have been donated for the project but more items are needed to complete the addition.
