Loser of the week was Brenda Lacostic; runners-up were Joyce Estey, Donna Parent and Betty Ivey.
Janette Nelson won the 50/50; the skinny dish was held over; mystery gift winner was Joanne Scott.
Reports were given by Janette Nelson, Charlotte Marley and Joanne Scott.
The Halloween contest ended, as quoted by Denise Kinney, contest person. The TOPS’ winner was Joyce Estey; the KOPS’ winners were Charlotte Marley and Lois Downing. Joyce gave a talk on how she kept and took off her pounds and we learned her menu.
New blank menus were distributed. Denise said it was not mandatory but it would be good if we kept a menu.
Plans to attend a workshop in Washburn on Saturday, Nov. 3, are Gerry McAfee, Joyce Estey, Joan Simpson, Denise Kinney, Melva Folsom and Joanne Scott.
Mystery gifts are needed, so please bring a wrapped gift if you can. The ladies voted to buy a new camera; we decided on one and one of the chapter girls will pick it up.
The program by Kay consisted of many tips for weight loss that really work. Some of the tips are: find a passion; keep an exercise log; set a goal; get pumped; eat smart; stop dieting; get a grip on reality; eat mini meals and dine at the dinner table as opposed to television.
The meeting adjourned. We will meet again on Friday, Nov. 9. For information on the chapter you may call Betty Ivey at 532-9653 or Charlotte Marley at 757-8483.
The weigh-in time is 8-8:45 a.m. and the meeting begins at 9 and usually ends an hour later.
Everybody is welcome.

We had 14 members weigh-in and attend our meeting.
Our person who lost the most weight for the week was Valerie Russin, and runner-up was Jeanne Watson.

We are having another contest until Dec. 19 between the orange and brown team. There are ten on each team.
Loretta Bouchard led the program for the week. It was very interesting. It was about five things we should do to lose weight.

Ricker Rumblings

How about our storm on Saturday night! Wow, that was a good one. The building shook as did our windows but think of the people on the coast! Aren’t we blessed, and we should give thanks for what we have.
We had a nice Halloween party in the community room on Saturday afternoon, sponsored by my daughter, Kathryn Hall. We had Halloween music; our dessert was cup cakes decorated in the Halloween motif and apple cider (made by Gerald Jackins). Barbara Spellman entertained us with piano solos. Her solos consisted of religious hymns and were well received. Thank you, Barbara and Kathy.
The Meals on Wheels for the week of Nov. 7-13 is chicken tender parmesan, spaghetti, coleslaw; shepherd’s pie, coleslaw; barbecued beef over bread, vegetables; roast pork, mashed potatoes with gravy, stuffing, veggies, applesauce; shepherd’s pie, coleslaw; hot chicken sandwich, mashed potatoes, veggies. How about that!
Saw the Rev. Dale Holden at the post office one day last week. She is enjoying her retirement and doing a lot of good things, I’m sure. Dale told me who replaced her, a Rev. Fuller, I think is the name and his wife’s name is Mellissa; they hail from Lovell, Maine. We wish them well in their new community.
Thank you for all the generous sympathy cards I received after my brother Edward died. He was 88, a retired Hood’s employee, who never missed a day’s work. His wife of 65 years died in August. His family will miss him tremendously.
My daughter Kathryn commonly called Kathy is remaking dolls. If you have a gently used doll around your house, she can remake them to look like new. She has already done several and they look like new. Kathy usually gives them to charity so you can see this is a great project for the underprivileged children. You can call my number, 532-2125 for pickup or to talk about dolls. Thank you.
Charlene Henderson spent a few days in training at Berwick a few weeks ago. Charlene said it was well worth the trip.
Do you have a buddy whom you call the first of the month for breast cancer checkup? If you haven’t, it would be wise to get a buddy for this important check.
Our newest tenants on the second floor: Nancee Campbell and on the third floor, Dianne Faulkner. May you both have a happy and long life at Ricker Plaza.
My thought for the day is taken from Matthew 21:22: “And all things whatsoever ye shall ask in prayer; believing, ye shall receive.”
Have a great week.
