Family of ‘Herky’ Adams responds to columns

To the editor:
    Speaking for the family of Fred “Herky” Adams, I would like to thank the Star-Herald, Jim Carter, and Dr. Richard Graves for writing a wonderful tribute to Herky Adams and the trophy created in his honor. I never knew him because I was born after he died, but I have heard so many family stories of his high school years, his scholastic and sporting achievements, and what an all-around great person he was.     I was always so proud to walk into the high school and see that trophy (described in the article) in the school trophy case. Principal Franklin Cunningham always made a point to tell each one of the Adams family who attended PIHS about Herky and his extraordinary talent. Our family, far and wide, looks forward to reading future articles about the Herky Adams trophy.
