To teach is to touch a life forever, and if you have ever met our Special Education teacher at Hodgdon High School, these words ring more than true. Mrs. Barb Mooers has put a face to that quote for more than 30 years and received a wonderful staff “going away for awhile” party last Friday.
Students and staff are missing Mrs. Mooers already; who else is going to tell us all her crazy moose hunting stories? Mrs. Mooers always has a smile and laughter to give to others and now it’s time for us to encourage her during her fight with breast cancer.
Mrs. Mooers would love to receive e-mail from 30 years of former students!  As one graduating senior has said, “When I was a 9th grader I looked at Mrs. Mooers and said, I’ll never graduate!  Mrs. Mooers grinned back at me and said, you’ll be calling me Mom and I’ll be calling you Son, but you’ll be walking down that aisle in 12th grade.”  Mrs. Mooers, this student wants you on that stage when he gets his diploma in June!
If you have a memory to share with Mrs. Mooers or just a hello to let her know you are thinking of her in the next few months, log on to our school website at www.msad70.net and click on her name, or email directly to bmooers@staff.msad70.net. Hodgdon High School is truly a family who cares about one another; that is what makes our school community such an incredible place to raise our children.
Parent teacher conference attendance was up 34.7 percent from two years ago.  We are so proud of our students, teachers, and parents who invest time and care into the education of our students. Last spring’s grade 9 student-led conference initiative was met with 99 percent participation. Way to go Hodgdon High School! Keep checking our school calendar for future conferences if you were unable to attend in November.
The High School Christmas band and chorus concert is Wed., Dec. 12 at 6:30 p.m. at the Mill Pond School. Come out and show your support for our talented youth. Financial Aid Night will be held on Monday, Dec. 17 at 6 p.m. at the high school.
Several classes at Hodgdon High School, including the grade 12 class, have adopted families from the Salvation Army for Christmas.  If you would like to help the classes give gifts to needy children and their families, any gifts, food donations, gift cards, monetary donations, etc. may be dropped off in the office.
Hodgdon High School cares about our community, and is proud to represent such amazing students, teachers, and parents.  Have a beautiful Christmas and New Year from the staff at HHS!
