To the editor:
Congratulations to MSAD 45!
There were only 13 schools chosen from the state of Maine to be named the best high schools for the 2005-06 school year (nationwide) by the US News and World Report. This is certainly an honor for the school and district and particularly for those serving the children and community at that time. Of course, the first to be congratulated are the students and staff and I’m sure that your present board and administration will take the opportunity to do so.
I wanted to personally thank those people who showed either formal or informal leadership during that time period. To those who always genuinely kept children at the forefront and weren’t afraid to wade through muddy waters to do what was right at that time and to all who were actively and positively involved during the 2005-06 school year linked to Washburn District High School — thank you!
What a wonderful achievement and an excellent milestone to reach.
Congratulations also goes out to the Maine School of Science and Mathematics and to Easton Junior-Senior High School. This all goes to prove that small schools in Aroostook County and all over the state of Maine are doing great jobs in educating children and looking for opportunities to open doors for them as they step into the future.
