ROCKPORT – Wildcat hockey history added another name to its books as Presque Isle senior Brandon Daigle slapped in his 100th career point Saturday night against the Camden Hills Windjammers. Daigle blasted down the left wing and deposited the puck just under the crossbar to reach the milestone. Daigle joins brothers Darren and Doug Carlisle as the third Presque Isle player to move into triple-figures.
Daigle set the goal for himself after watching his brother, Sean Daigle, capture the Wildcat record for most shutouts as a PIHS goalie. The left winger started on the fourth line his freshman year making five goals. His sophomore year he made starting lineup and finished the season with 38 goals. In his junior year, Daigle put in 36 pucks leaving 21 to make the magic number his final year of high school.
Daigle, who has played hockey with his brother and in summer programs since the age of 4, was relieved to pass the marker. “It’s something I’ve had on my head the whole time so it’s nice to have it off my back now.”
The game puck and a plaque will be presented to the senior on Feb. 5 before the Houlton game.
The history-making moment came on a night of overwhelming victory for the Wildcats who defeated the Windjammers, 11-1, as Presque Isle outshot Camden Hills 57-25.
Daigle tallied up three goals and three assists on the night. Dylan Collins slapped in two goals and passed off three assists. Josh Buck and Brennen Shaw each had a goal and an assist. Mark Carvell and Matt Talbot put in one puck apiece and tallied up two assists.
Mitch Davis and Caleb Buck also put in one goal each in the stampeding triumph.
On Friday, PIHS skated away with the victory over Windale at Augusta, 8-3.
The Wildcats shared offensive glory, each score was made by a different teammate. Talbot, Buck, Collins, Shaw, Carvell, Daigle, Parker Hovey and Caleb Buck all found a hole in the Windale defensive line.
Davis, Jason Martin, Greg Cyr and Mitch Sperrey passed off an assist each.
Presque Isle turned up the aggressive play to outshoot their opponents, 57-25.
Ethan Hill and Josh MacFarline kept back Windale’s progress in the PIHS net.
