PRESQUE ISLE – Arlene R. (King) McHugh Dicker, 82, passed away February 23, 2008, in Presque Isle after an extended illness. She was born in Presque Isle November 4, 1925, the daughter of Clement, Sr. and Helen (Higgins) King, who predeceased her. Arlene served 30 years with Aroostook Trust Company and Maine National Bank working her way up to assistant manager and loan officer. She was one of the women bankers instrumental in the formation of The Maine Chapter of The National Association of Bank Women. A communicant of St. Mary's Catholic Church, she was a member of the Daughters of Isabella. She was also a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary 9389, a member of Probus, SAGE at UMPI, a past member of the P.I. Snowmobile Club, Aroostook County Campers Association and the Green Ridge Grange.
Arlene is survived by two beloved daughters Carol-Jean Lougee; her husband Raymond of Colorado and their children R. Joseph, wife Mary, their children, Myles, Alyanna, Kelty, and Kaylin of Colorado; Charles of California and Shawn of Colorado; Mary-Ann McHugh and her children, Mikaela Foster of Augusta and Brant Hubbard of Bangor. She also leaves her brother, Richard King and his wife Irene; sister Jackie Haines and her husband Harold (Jr.), Barbara Hews and her husband Ed, Geraldine Wheeler and her husband Ronald; sisters-in-law Helen King, Margaret Coffin, Barbara Manchester, Clarice McCabe, Hope McPherson, Barbara McHugh Buchanan and Elizabeth McHugh; brother-in-law Harold Quass, dear friends Blanche Bois, Grace Scott and Anita Beaulieu. She also leaves many cousins, nieces and nephews.
Arlene was predeceased by the father of her children and first husband C. Arden McHugh, by her second husband Clifford (Kip) Dicker, her brothers Ted Coffin, Clem King, Jr. and sister Dorothy Quass.
A Mass of Christian burial was celebrated on Tuesday, February 26, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Presque Isle. Interment will be at Fairmont Cemetery in the spring. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the American Heart Association Northeast Affiliate, 343 Gorham Rd., South Portland, ME 04106 or to a charity of one’s choice.
