REMODELING — John Nadeau of Nadeau Construction works at County Road Baptist Church last week. Workers were busy putting finishing touches on the sanctuary in time for the church’s Easter Sunday service. Major renovating at the New Limerick church has been in progress since fall.
It marked the first service the New Limerick church was able to hold in its newly-remodeled sanctuary. Planning started roughly a year ago, said Pastor Rick Carver.
“We had some repair issues that needed to be addressed, and we thought it would be best not only to repair those deteriorating portions of the building but also to enhance them at the same time,” he said.
Crews worked through the fall on the project which brought major improvements to their auditorium.
“We’ve added about 40 feet to the width, so now we’ve got an 80-by-80 room,” explained Carver. “We’ve improved a lot of other things: the lighting has changed; the ceiling is vaulted; the carpeting and platform have been upgraded. We have air conditioning and new windows. We’re brining in pew chairs instead of actual pews.”
And the changes don’t stop there. Rooms nearby the auditorium have been reconfigured; a new nursery room has been finished and the pastor’s study has been added. A new coffee station and upgraded handicapped bathroom top off the bulk of the work.
“There have been a lot of people who have pitched in [to get this done],” said Carver. “It’s a big group effort.”
Carver also expressed kudos to his congregation.
“The church has done really well,” he said. “They’ve stuck together through what can be a very trying time for churches, and we’ve seen a lot of good unity here.”
Renovations will continue at the church. In the near future, he said they’re also planning to reconfiguring some of the downstairs rooms.
All are welcome to come check out the changes.
“It’s definitely worth a look,” he said. “It’s improving all the time.”
While the building may be undergoing changes, Carver said their message is the same.
“The facility may be new, but our message is unchanged,” he added.
