Riders learn, share love of horses

    The Meduxnekeag River Pony Club, an affiliate of the United States Pony Club, hosted the regional Quiz Rally at Houlton Southside School last Saturday.

    Fifty-two participants representing clubs from around the state competed in five phases demonstrating their knowledge of horse care, management, equipment, riding and equestrian sports.  Parents and leaders from all of the clubs assisted with judging and scoring the various activities.
    The Meduxnekeag junior team of Emily Dee, Melissa Moody, Abby Moody and Lauren Eastham took fifth place in their division and the senior team of Marina DiMarco, Kelsey Fitzpatrick, Kimberly Levesque and Leigh Shaw won first place. It was a great day of learning and sharing the love of horses, while waiting for the snow to melt and the mud to dry up.
