PRESQUE ISLE – Golf proved to be a poor choice of recreation for several youth caught hitting balls at Mantle Lake Park on May 16.
The Presque Isle Police Department received several reports on Friday indicating youth were seen hitting golf balls at the buildings and into the water at the family park. Witnesses were concerned about the littering and that someone could get struck by a stray ball.    Police followed up on the first two reports but it wasn’t until the last call that officers located the juveniles involved.
Officer Kevin Reed spoke with two teenaged males and gave them a verbal warning about littering.
The city is continuing its efforts this year to make Mantle Lake a fun place for people of all ages.
Police encourage individuals to report activities that appear suspicious or of a dangerous nature, helping officers make the park a safe, fun place for all.
