GIVING PULL  – “Mega Ram,” driven by Mitch Holmes of Westfield gives the drag a pull during the first Northern Penobscot Pulling Association event held last Saturday in Ashland.
Pullers from various parts of the state showed up for the long anticipated competition.
A new addition to the pull club this year is the purchase of a weight transfer sled for use in the pulls. This is a great advantage as many pulls can be scheduled with less complications. Along with the transfer sled the club has an up to date measuring system using laser technology for instant and accurate recordings of the pulls.
This purchase was made possible by the Varney Insurance Agency, as well as the generosity of other businesses and the personal contributions of several of the pullers themselves.
    The summer schedule for NPPA pulls is as follows:Saturday, Presque Isle at 6 p.m; June 21, Machias at 2 p.m.; June 28, Skowhegan at 4 p.m.; July 3, Houlton at 4 p.m.; July 4, Hunneywell Valley at 1 p.m.; July 5, Presque Isle at 7 p.m.; July 19, Kingfield at 3 p.m. July 26, Springfield a 3 p.m.; July 27, Bangor at 12 p.m.; August 2, Presque Isle at 4 p.m.; August 9, Skowhegan at 4:30 p.m; August 16, Skowhegan at 6 p.m.; August 22-23, Dover Foxcroft at 2 p.m.; August 27, Windsor at 6 p.m.; August 30, Springfield at 3 p.m.; September 4, Clinton at 7 p.m. (street stock only); September 6, Clinton at 1 p.m.; September 13, Oxford at 6:30 p.m.; September 19-20, Ashland at 7 p.m. and 3 p.m., respectively; September 26, Cumberland at 6:30 p.m.; October 5, Fryeburg at 5 p.m. and October 6, Clinton at 1 p.m.
