CARIBOU – The Caribou High School boys’ tennis team get a second chance at an Eastern Maine title today as the Vikings take on Belfast at Colby College.

CHS blanked John Bapst 5-0 last Friday to move to the final round of competition. Franz Zehentner posted a 7-5 and 6-0 win, Shane Belanger won 6-2 and 6-0 and Casey Lancaster dealt his opponent 6-0 and 6-3 sets. In doubles, Taylor Jepson and Spencer McElwain claimed 6-1 and 6-2 sets, and Keegan Wakana and Tim Langlais had a 6-0 and 6-2 win.
The Caribou boys’ tennis team moved on to semifinals after downing their rivals the Presque Isle Wildcats last Thursday, 5-0.
In singles, Zehentner defeated Alex Carter (6-4, 6-4), Belanger stopped Ben Picard (6-2, 6-1) and Lancaster defeated Sam Picard (6-0, 6-0). In doubles, Jepson and McElwain aced Chris Cawley and Caleb Mathers (6-1, 6-2), and Wakana and Langlais defeated Kyle Gilson and Bryce Fagin (6-1, 6-0).
The girl’s season ended in a tight battle against the number-three Wildcats, as PIHS continued their season 3-2.
Octavia Panzeri took the victory in her singles match over Sarah Porter (2-6, 6-4, 6-3), and Jenna Selander defeated Allison Dean (6-7, 6-2, 6-0). Nicole Nadeau lost her singles match (6-4, 6-4).
Missy Nadeau and Elizabeth Barbosa fell in their doubles match (7-5, 6-4), and Megan Nadeau and Lydia Kieffer ended their season (4-6, 6-1, 6-0).
Caribou girls’ tennis continued their season after defeating number-11 Mount Desert Island 3-2 in the June 3 preliminary.
In singles, Panzeri defeated Addie Maxwell (6-0, 6-4), and Selander topped Rebecca Thormann (2-6, 6-0-6-3). Collins lost to Jessica Swanson (6-4, 6-3).
In doubles, Missy Nadeau and Barbosa volleyed past Nevora Lemoine and Hanna Worcester (6-1, 6-2). N. Nadeau and Meagan Nadeau dropped their match (6-1, 6-7).
