National and American Division All-Stars face off in CLL

    American quarterfinal: Sleepers 13, Woodland Tigers 4

    Sleepers’ defense kept a tight reign in their quarterfinal on Monday to continue in the playoffs. Justin Ouellette pitched into the fifth inning, and gave up only two hits, three runs and three walks. Michael Hunter and Brendan Cyr both threw for two-thirds of an inning and gave up only one run. Breen Blackstone struck out his sole batter to confirm the win for Sleepers. Andrew Michaud aided the team with a leftfield catch to end a two-run Tiger comeback in the fifth inning.
    On offense, Blackstone hit four-for-four including three doubles and two RBIs. Hunter, B. Cyr, Ouellette, Mason Huck and Devin Cyr all scored runs. Riley McDuffie bunted her first Little League hit to reach base and notch an RBI.
    Matt Manter, Zach Connelly and Jessica Kovach shared pitching duties for a combined record of nine strikeouts, eight hits and 10 walks. Dylan Conroy kept the bases safe, throwing out and tagging out three runners attempting to steal a base.
    Connelly doubled and scored two of the Tigers’ runs. Manter hit two pitches including an RBI. Garrison Doody and Adriana Bither both scored for the Woodland team.
    9/10-year-old All Stars: American 9, National 6
    The American League topped the National League in Saturday morning’s All-Star game. Ouellette, Gunnar Bondeson, Nick Frost and Hunter shared pitching for the Americans with 14 strikeouts, 10 walks and allowing only two hits. Frost, Paul Hanson, Huck, Jillian Flynn, Kevin Bither and Ricky Sheldon all found their pitch for hits during the game.
    Donovan Savage, Caleb Willet and Brayden Burby struck out 10, had nine walks and allowed nine hits for National pitching. Burby and Nolan Powers both had hits in the match.
    11/12-year-old All Stars: National 8, American 5
    Matt Curry belted a two-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning, and Sean Sadler hit a three-run double in the bottom of the fourth to help the National League All-Stars to victory on Saturday. Sadler also tripled, and Matt Milliard and Dayne Savage both doubled. Nick Matlock belted two balls, and Michael Boone had one hit. Curry, Jared Keaton, Dylan Berkoski and Milliard combined pitching efforts for seven strikeouts.
    The American League All-Stars started early with a four-run lead going into the bottom of the third inning, before the National League came back. Breen Blackstone led offense with three hits, and Cody Herbert added two hits including a double. Mike Selander, Jordyn Doucette, Caleb Corriveau and Dustin Bouchard all had one hit. Corriveau, Doucette, Matt Frost, Herbert and Selander combined pitching for 11 strikeouts.
    Coaches’ game: American 22, National 5
    Sleepers 28, Woodland Tigers 7
    The Tigers and Sleepers kept pace with each other, scoring six runs each in the first three innings of play on July 8.
    Both teams went on to score five runs apiece in the third inning. However, the pitching talents of Ouellette and Cyr held the Tigers to one run for the remainder of the game to gain the lead and the win.
    Blackstone boosted Sleepers ahead with two inside-the-park home runs, one of which cleared the bases. Cyr, Hunter, Connor Thibeault, Ouellette and Sara Huston all added hits and scored runs for Sleepers.
    Manter led the Tiger offense with two doubles. Jessica Kovach singled, and Derrik Michaud belted a solo home run. Manter, Michaud, Conroy and 9-year-old Carson Doody all shared pitching duties.
    Key Bank 5, Maine Bag 4
    M. Frost struck out eight batters over five innings while allowing only two runs to help Key Bank to their 13th win on July 8. Ryan Washington doubled in the fifth and tripled in the sixth to lead the offense. N. Frost, Alex Scott and Bouchard all made key defensive plays for Key Bank.
    Herbert doubled and scored in the fifth inning while Josh Fortin and Kris Michaud both singled in the sixth inning for Maine Bag. Selander struck out 11 batters pitching for Maine Bag.
    Savings Bank of Maine 18, Police 7
    Matlock struck out 12 of the 18 batters he faced over four and a third innings to help secure the Savings Bank victory on July 7. Alex Michaud struck out three batters pitching in relief. A. Michaud captained the offense with a home run, two doubles and a single. Matlock belted three doubles. Willett tripled and doubled, Jared Doody singled twice and Jacob Burby added one single.
    Austin Griffeth led the Police with a home run and a double. Austin Caverhill hit a single. Griffeth, Caverhill, Tyler Dombrowski and Reece McDougal shared the pitching duties.
    Key Bank 9, North Stars 3
    Key Bank’s M. Frost belted a solo home run in the first inning to set the pace of the Little League game on July 3. M. Frost also had a fifth inning homer, and drove in five runs. Scott, Paul Hanson, Casey McCrossin and Scott McCrossin also added hits for Key Bank. Pitcher Corriveau struck out 12 for Key Bank’s defense.
    Doucette doubled and scored one run while Kelsie Espling and Jacob Bither each scored for the North Stars. Garret Alley struck out eight batters over four innings.
    Key Bank 28, Knights of Columbus 7
    Key Bank scored eight runs in the first inning and totaled 17 hits for their win on June 30. M. Frost had four hits including a grand slam in the sixth, and Bouchard and Hanson both had three hits apiece. Hanson drove in seven runs. Bouchard threw for four strikeouts and allowed no hits over three innings. Washington and N. Frost pitched in relief.
    K of C drew eight walks in the fourth inning to score five runs. David Kennedy, Connor Plourde and Flynn shared pitching duties for K of C.
    North Stars 4, Sleepers 3
    The North Stars scored a run in the bottom of the sixth inning to break a three-point tie for the 4-3 win over Sleepers. Doucette pitched all six innings, and struck out 11 batters.
    Bither captained the offense with three hits while Doucette added two hits. Espling, Alley and Brady Anderson all had one hit each.
    Sarah Huston threw for eight strikeouts, and Blackstone had two hits for Sleepers. Connor Thibeault, Hunter and Michaud all added one hit each.
    Savings Bank of Maine 17, Woodland Eagles 8
