Jerry’s strives to please

    PRESQUE ISLE – From towing a vehicle to repairing a problem under the hood, Jerry’s Towing, Repair & Used Cars strives to please its customers.
    Located at 78 Houlton Road in Presque Isle, the business is entering its 19th year.     “When I first started, it was just towing,” said owner Jerry Palmer. “Over the years it’s grown to include automotive repairs, auto body repairs, and auto sales.
    “They’re good, clean cars we acquire through dealer trade-ins or at auctions and we’ll take anything in on trade,” he said. “With new cars, you drive them off the lot and they’ve lost $5,000 value, so more people are buying used. It makes more sense, it’s convenient, and it saves money. Our cars are fully serviced and inspected before they are sold.”
    Jerry’s is the only towing service in Presque Isle contracted with AAA and Allstate. They service other roadside assistance programs, as well, and of course they always accept cash and credit cars.
    In addition, Jerry’s offers a complete, full service body shop, which offers restoration services, glass replacement, collision repair, and refinishing.
    New to Jerry’s this year are “used motorcycles.”
    “These bikes are fully serviced and repainted, and ready for the road again,” said Palmer.
    Palmer said to stay in business in Presque Isle for this long, you have to provide the customer with the services they need and want.
    “It’s like building a better mouse trap,” he said. “You give the customer the services they need and want with the respect they deserve. That’s a satisfied customer – that’s my customer.
    “For example, when a customer’s had a fender bender or a breakdown and he/she calls us, we get there as suddenly as possible and we’re as courteous as possible,” said Palmer. “That customer’s already having a bad day, so I do my best to calm them down and try to make their day a little nicer.
    “With us, customer service is number one,” said Palmer, noting that the employees contribute to the success of the business. “And to all our customers, THANK YOU. My business is nothing without YOU.”
    Jerry’s Towing, Repair & Used Cars is open from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 9 a.m.-1 p.m. Saturday. During the summer, the business is open as needed per customer requests Mondays and Fridays. They can be reached by calling 764-4121 or 784-1881 or by e-mail at jerrystowing@ainop.com.
