Keeping pets looking their best

    PRESQUE ISLE, Maine – For the last five years, Cookies and Cuts Dog & Cat Grooming has been keeping family pets looking neat and clean.
In addition to grooming and bathing dogs and cats of all shapes and sizes, Cookies and Cuts also provides a variety of pet supplies.     “We sell leashes, collars, combs, brushes, shampoos, flea and tick dip, dog and cat food, and also offer obedience and socialization training, and coming soon, agility and advanced obedience training,” said owner Mary Nevin.
Located at the Northern Lights Motel at 72 Houlton Road in Presque Isle, Nevin said it’s important to be tuned into customers’ needs and be able to change to meet those needs.
“A business must be flexible in today’s competitive market in order to survive,” she said. “You must also have employees who believe in the same standard of customer service that you have established.
“Employees reflect your image,” said Nevin, “and as they say, ‘Image is everything.’”
Nevin said Carol Allen, Cookies and Cuts’ only full-time employee, follows those customer service standards to the letter.
Since her customers are 4-legged, Nevin said she has to pay close attention to their individual needs.
“We have to have a great understanding that our true customers can’t talk to us, but can communicate really well by their actions,” she said. “We do what we can to please our customers because a customer is everything to a business.
“Without customers, it would be like a business without a sign – there would be no business at all,” said Nevin. “We are all customers in our daily work environment, and we know what it takes to please them.”
Nevin said there are future changes at Cookies and Cuts.
“We are in the development stages to provide a pay-as-you-go fun park for your dog, and we are working with the city to acquire a special exemption to establish a Doggy Daycare and Boarding Facility,” she said.
