CARIBOU – Alma T. Grindle, wife of the late Sprague Grindle, passed away on September 11, 2008. Surviving relatives are daughters, Lois Klonowski (Jerry) and Gerry Grindle; sister, Carol Johnston; sister-in-law, Mary Tabbut; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by another daughter, Terry, in 1963.
Alma was born July 29, 1918, the daughter of Ralph and Nellie (Bray) Tabbut in Bar Harbor. She graduated from Bar Harbor High School and was active in the Congregational Church and YWCA. She was married in 1941 and raised her children in Caribou. She was employed for many years by the State of Maine. She and Sprague lived at Pushaw Lake in Stillwater, Maine for several years before retiring to Clearwater and Inverness, Florida. Alma enjoyed swimming, bowling, canoeing and snowmobiling. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.
