What parents can do to make it happen; GEAR UP meeting tonight at Ed Center

    The Maine Parent Federation GEAR UP program offers parents of high school students this free to learn ways to support their children through high school and into the higher education program of their choice: a career apprenticeship, a trade certification, a two-year or a four-year college program.
    MPF GEAR UP staff and expert speakers from high school guidance, financial aid, and career planning and college admissions will cover the following areas in one four-hour session that includes a half-hour break for supper. 
    There’s a college for everyone who wants to go. Finding the best higher education match. There’s more financial aid available than you think.    Parents can help their child prepare.Higher education is worth the effort. Your child can be the “first in the family” to go to college.
    Parents who attend this class will receive reference and background materials to take home. There is no cost to participants for the class and materials.
    Maine Parent Federation GEAR UP and the Houlton/Hodgdon Adult Education Program will offer this course from 5 to 9 p.m. on Wednesday, November 5.
