Winners of the Greater Houlton Chamber of Commerce’s 2nd Annual Gingerbread House Contest were announced Friday evening, Dec. 5 during a reception hosted by the sponsor of the event, RE/MAX Central on Main Street.

RE/MAX agents Diane Hires and Greg Miller stated that folks walking past their windows throughout the week stopped to admire the Gingerbread Houses and were visibly impressed.
Chamber Director Lori Weston was thrilled with the number of entrants and expects that number to grow each year. The number of
entries doubled from last year.
“The time and effort that the individuals put into each gingerbread house creation was just incredible.” There is great talent and creativity in our community,” Weston stated.
The winners for the 2008 Gingerbread House Contest were: the children’s category; first place, Hollee Workman; second place, Austin Winslow; third place tie, Olivia Winslow, Sidney Crane and Cole Winslow.
The group category: (a new category this year); first place, the Haybalers 4-H group.
The adult category: first place, Mary Harbison; second place, Karen Mead; third place, Amy Carmen. Honorable mention: Matthew Crane. Cash prizes were awarded.
