The Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department recently hosted a large number of very small guests, when Pre-K students from Teague Park Elementary School ventured out on a field trip to learn about some of the things their firefighters and emergency medical technicians must do in their job.

Image    Caribou EMT/Firefight-er Tim Guerrette took some time to answer a lot of questions as to how certain things work  inside an ambulance, when Pre-K students from Teague Park Elementary School visited on a field trip.

Firefighters Tim Guerrette and Lon Cyr took their guests through a variety of areas in the fire station, showing them were firefighters sleep, what the inside of a fire truck and an ambulance really looks like as well as explaining what their gear looks like.
As Guerrette and Cyr led their small charges through the firehouse going in and out of the fire truck and ambulance, there were continuous questions  always patiently and sometime humorously answered by their guides.
Of course the emergency vehicles were a featured attraction, but the young students were also quite impressed by where the firefighters sleep when they are at the fire station. The idea of being able to reach up and pull your bed down from the wall created looks of interest.
At the end of the visit, each student was provided with a fireman’s helmet and a special eraser in the shape of a fire hydrant and of course they were reminded they could visit the fire department anytime with their parents and to also remember that the firefighters really like apple pie.
The field trip provides a perfect chance for young children to begin to understand about fire safety and what to expect should they ever be in an emergency situation.
Members of the Caribou Fire and Ambulance Department, dedicate a great deal of time to fire safety and education within the local schools.
